EDIT 5001 Intro to Online Learning

This course focuses on the field of K12 online teaching and learning. Learners are introduced to concepts in distance education, review its history, conduct research on specific areas of practice, investigate instructional design and strategies for online teaching and learning, explore the technologies commonly used, organize and design online learning experiences within a learning management system, and explore the unique roles and responsibilities of the distance learner and instructor.

EDIT 5002 Designing Online Learning

This course focuses on the design and development of a high-quality online learning experience for students using research-based elements and instructional design principles for effective online instruction. As a part of this experience, students will evaluate how experienced online teachers design and organize e-Learning based on Quality Matters K12 standards.

EDIT 5003 Facilitating Online Learning

Prerequisite: EDIT 5001. This course addresses expectations, challenges, and issues specific to facilitating online learning. Topics include motivating students, creating a sense of community, monitoring progress, providing feedback, differentiating instruction and universal design for learning for students with special needs, encouraging interactivity, collaboration and dialogue, and utilizing originality checking software. Candidates complete a portfolio of observations and reflections of experienced online teachers.

EDIT 5202 Technology for Teachers

An introduction to educational applications of instructional technology, including concepts, issues, systems, tools, techniques, and resources. This course is non-repeatable for credit.
