Georgia College's Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Computer Science is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the General Criteria and the Computer Science Program Criteria.
Degree Requirements
Core Areas A-E
Satisfactorily complete core Areas A-E, as listed in the Core Curriculum section of this catalog.
Area F
Satisfactorily complete all of the following courses. Additional hours to complete the 18 hours required in Area F will be completed in the cognate area.
Cognate Areas
Calculus
Satisfactorily complete each of the following courses, if not completed in Areas A and D:
Additional Mathematics
Satisfactorily complete one of the following courses:
Science
Satisfactorily complete two science and laboratory courses from the following list, if not completed in Area D. Both the lecture and the companion laboratory course must be successfully completed to apply the credits from either course to this requirement.

Satisfactorily complete all of the following courses with a grade of C or better:

Satisfactorily complete two additional CSCI 3000-4000 level courses with a grade of C or better:

Satisfactorily complete three credits from the following courses or an international studies experience approved by the department chair with a grade of C or better.
Optional Concentrations
Courses used to fulfill major requirements may also be used toward concentration requirements, if listed among the approved courses below.
Federal financial aid will not pay for an optional concentration course unless that course is also necessary to complete the 120 hours required for a degree or the 39 hours of required upper-level credit. Contact Financial Aid if you have questions about your federal aid eligibility.
Data Science Concentration
Satisfactorily complete CSCI 4710 and two of the following courses:
Information Technology Concentration
Satisfactorily complete CSCI 3341, CSCI 3350, and one of the following courses:

Human and Computer Interface Design Concentration
The Human and Computer Interface Design concentration is available to Computer Science majors in the fall of their senior year. Students satisfactorily complete 12 semester hours at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), which must be approved by the student's academic advisor and department chair prior to July 1 of the student's senior year. Courses applied to the concentration must be listed in the People Thread in the Georgia Tech catalog at the time the courses are completed.
To declare the concentration, a student must have a minimum gpa of 3.4 and have a grade of C or higher in the following prerequisite courses: MATH 1261, MATH 1262, CSCI 1301, CSCI 1302, CSCI 2350, CSCI 3680, CSCI 3410, CSCI 3211, CSCI 3341, CSCI 3212, CSCI 3342, CSCI 4710, and CSCI 4520. Students completing this concentration will also need to file a petition for an exemption of the institutional residency requirement.
Internetworks Concentration
The Internetworks concentration is available to Computer Science majors in the fall of their senior year. Students satisfactorily complete 12 semester hours at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), which must be approved by the student's academic advisor and department chair prior to July 1 of the student's senior year. Courses applied to the concentration must be listed in the Information Internetworks Thread in the Georgia Tech catalog at the time the courses are completed.
To declare the concentration, a student must have a minimum gpa of 3.4 and have a grade of C or higher in the following prerequisite courses: MATH 1261, MATH 1262, CSCI 1301, CSCI 1302, CSCI 2350, CSCI 3680, CSCI 3410, CSCI 3211, CSCI 3341, CSCI 3212, CSCI 3342, CSCI 4710, and CSCI 4520. Students completing this concentration will also need to file a petition for an exemption of the institutional residency requirement.
Electives
Students who do not take courses listed in Area F and the cognate areas as part of their Area A-E core requirements will have fewer elective credits available.

Earn a grade of C or higher in all CSCI courses.
Earn a score of 130 or higher on ETS exam.
