EDRD 5200 Found of Rdg, Literacy & Lang

Prerequisite: Admission to the M.A.T. Elementary Education program. This course examines the foundations of language and literacy acquisition, including the theory and practices of evidence-based literacy instruction.

EDRD 5210 The Teaching of Reading

Provides an understanding of processes, principles and practices of literacy development. Study of the major approaches to literacy instruction including development of balanced literacy curriculum. This course is non-repeatable for credit.

EDRD 5211 Literacy For Special Education

Provides an understanding of processes, principles and practices of literacy development with application to P-12. Study of the major components of literacy instruction for special education students with modifications and adaptations to achieve a balanced literacy curriculum. Open only to students enrolled in the M.Ed. Special Education Cohort.

EDRD 5215 Rdg Literacy & Lang Assess/Ins

Prerequisite: Admission to the M.A.T. Elementary Education program. This course examines the application of reading, literacy, and language concepts through curriculum methods and instruction, assessment and evaluation, literacy professional dispositions, and diverse reading profiles.

EDRD 5511 Effective Literacy Env & Instr

Prerequisite: Admission to the M.A.T. Elementary Education program. This course synthesizes understandings of language and literacy development, along with differentiating instruction in order to organize positive learning climates that support children from kindergarten through fifth grade in their development as independent readers, writers, and thinkers.
