MUSC 6539 String Orchestra Lit & History

This course will include an in-depth study into a select number of core works in the string orchestra repertoire. Furthermore, students will review and create lists of quality works in various grade levels that can immediately be taken back to their classrooms. Additionally, the course will include a survey into the history of strings from high renaissance to contemporary symphonic orchestras. Students will be able to use this historical knowledge to improve their score preparation, rehearsal planning, and teaching.
