Education and Equity Graduate Certificate (Online)

Program Description

The Education and Equity Graduate Certificate Program is designed to help educators develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to more effectively educate and advocate for children and families from under-served populations. It also identifies educators as experts in this field for current and future employers and provides them a platform for providing their expertise in this area with colleagues. Further, the program is designed to help educators create a more equitable educational system and larger society. The certificate is intended for graduate education students; but students in any college may take an individual course as an elective.

The Education and Equity Graduate Certificate Program encompasses the Liberal Arts mission of Georgia College as it addresses a regional need in Georgia schools to improve the educational practices for our most marginalized students.  It also reflects the GC mission of valuing diversity and inclusivity as a means to advance excellence.

Certificate Admission Requirements

  • Admitted to Georgia College as a graduate student
  • Submit official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended. Applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution to be eligible for admission into a graduate program at Georgia College.
  • Minimum GPA 2.5

Dismissal Policy

Students are required to maintain a 3.0 GPA during the three-course series that comprise the certificate program. If a student's GPA falls below a 3.0, they may petition to stay in the certificate program for one semester. If, at the end of the semester on probation the student's GPA is still below a 3.0, they will be dismissed from the certificate program. Any student who plagiarizes work will fail that course (receive an F) and be referred to the Judicial Council for a violation of Georgia College's Honor Code.

Exit Requirements

At the completion of the three-course certificate program students who have met all requirements of the three-course series will be eligible to receive the certificate in Education and Equity.
