Prerequisites: CHEM 2800 and CHEM 2800L. An introduction to the chemical processes that occur in atmospheric, aquatic, and terrestrial environments. The source, transport, and reactivity of environmental pollutants are examined. Remediation methods are discussed.

Study of the chemistry of biological systems with emphasis on biosynthesis of the major classes of biomolecules, and their corresponding macromolecules. An in-depth exploration of structure and dynamics of nucleic acids in relation to their function. Second of a two-semester sequence. Offered only in the spring of even years.
